Notes from November 6, 2019 Meeting

Dear Everybody,

We had a great meeting.

It was a pleasure to welcome Cheri Smith, Luxury Travel Specialist, from Cruise Planners. Cheri’s contact information is [email protected]. Her number is 623-435-4488. Her company specializes in cruises, land, and tour vacations. For more information see www.travelbycheri.com. She was the guest of Natalie Stahl, and we were happy to have her among us today. We hope she comes again soon.

If you missed this morning’s meeting, you didn’t get to hear Brooke Schiavone of Z’s Fine Jewelry give us her inside view of social media as it affects marketing and branding efforts. And you didn’t get to participate in the wonderful raffle that featured beautiful prizes of Ania Haie jewelry. We also gathered $61 for Brooke, who is giving it to the Peoria education fund because it appears voters in her area have voted “no” on the bond issue.

Brooke detailed the social media resources she considers essential to her small business, which is headed up by Facebook and followed closely by Instagram. She also said that Pinterest is big in the jewelry business, because her products’ marketing techniques are almost entirely visual.  She provided some impressive statistics, including the fact that social media is used worldwide by 3.2 billion people worldwide, and almost 4 billion people are active internet users. She said that Google searches bring in a large portion of their customers.

Upcoming events at Z’s Fine Jewelry include their presence in a booth at the Peoria Sports Complex on Saturday, November 9, for Sweet to the Soul. On Black Friday, they will hold a 40% off everything in the store (except for loose diamonds) from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The ZIP Event is on December 6, and concludes at 7:00. They are also holding a toy drive to benefit Valley View Community Food Bank on December 6 and 7.

Brooke concluded her presentation by showing us examples of Ania Haie jewelry, whose affordable price point will make the line popular for gift-giving for holidays and special occasions.

We always appreciate Brooke’s ability to synthesize a lot of information and present it. She (and Joe, who picked out our raffle prizes!) provided us with an informative, and very fun morning.

Have a great rest of the week, and be careful out there.
