Notes from February 6, 2019 Meeting
Dear Everybody,
We were sorry to learn of the death of Lupe Encinas’ father-in-law (Nacho’s dad), and send our best wishes to her and the entire family. Lupe is currently in Mexico.
Today we had our monthly business meeting and raffle, which was a 50/50 plus a special prize sponsored by Wendy Terrell on behalf of the Prom Boutique. Dr. Misty won the 50/50, and graciously donated all funds back to Wendy for the boutique. The special prize was won by Dr. Beth, who shared her winnings with Dr. Misty. Thanks to everybody who made the raffle a success today, and thanks to Wendy as she helps dress girls for their prom. She is still looking for prom appropriate dresses and accessories.
Jody Serey reported that the newsletter for February is reaching a wider audience because she “boosted” it (her treat) on Facebook. We are getting a good response with this particular issue. Please be thinking of what you would like to contribute next month to the Get Ready for Spring issue.
Brooke Schiavone said that there are great deals available now at Z’s Fine Jewelry for people getting engaged who need rings. One popular offer right now at the store involves a free bracelet with a $300 or above purchase, which sounds like a great plan for Valentine’s Day.
Landrie Stahl made everybody’s toes curl with her report on receiving a nerve block shot in the back of her head. She also said that she is having hip surgery next week to repair some additional damage that was a result of her accident last year.
Robin McCombs still has raffle tickets available to benefit Southwest Veterans Chamber of Commerce, who is giving away a restaurant gift card every day in March. Gift certificates range from $20 to $200 and total more than $1,000. No more than 500 tickets are being sold. Tickets are 1 for $10 and 6 for $10.
Vickie Mikoch is seeking letters from war veterans for her upcoming book honoring veterans through the Vietnam conflict. She has requested scans instead of the actual letters to guard against loss, random acts of kitty cats, and other tragedies.
A reminder that Valentine’s Day is creeping up like thong underwear, so make sure you get flowers ordered at The Tulip Tree, hints dropped about what jewelry items you want at Z’s, your hair and nail appointments booked, and all other pertinent details finalized.
In the meantime, have a great rest of the week, take care of yourself while you are taking care of everybody else, and be aware of the new local stringent distracted driving laws that launch tomorrow.
