Notes from July 24, 2019 Meeting

Dear Everybody,

I am a bit late getting these out, but this will bring us up to date.

Our meeting was a rich sharing of all kinds of helpful observations and good advice. Audrey Hickman advised that after it rains, look for termite tubes. The little munchers love the wet weather, and this is the time of the year to catch them in their heinous acts of destruction.

Melinda McCorkle went peach picking at Date Creek Ranch. She said it is an awesome place, and makes a great day trip. Apple picking will go on in September.

Lupe Encinas rode the mechanical bull at Saddle Ranch wearing stilettos. The occasion was a bachelorette party for Landrie Stahl, who is getting married this coming weekend. Nobody was a bit surprised that Lupe was fully decked out in fierce shoes when she conquered the bull.

Lupe also revealed that she and Nacho paid off the mortgage on her parents’ house. She pretty much topped all of us for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and every Christmas from here on out.

We talked about the importance of training for the trades, and made several suggestions as to where to find funding for education. Susan Fitzgerald stated that Rotary has a great program. An email was mailed out to all of you with the link after the meeting. Susan Fitzgerald forwarded the link to the website for those looking for financial aid for a vocational school. https://trvfa.org/

Midwestern University has a free program in the summer for kids interested in medicine. Nothing else at Midwestern will be free if the kids decide to go there. Misty gave us the sobering news that a degree runs towards a half million in student debt.

Speaking of kids – we all endorse bringing kids to presentations being given that will interest them, and in having them make presentations to us, for both the practice for them and the education for us.

We adjourned the meeting, and went back into the magic embrace of our lives.
