Notes from February 27, 2019 Meeting

Dear Everybody,

There was horrendous traffic snags all the way to the restaurant. We also had several members down with plague and injuries. HOWEVER, we still prevailed and had a spirited meeting. Cathy substituted as our server for Amberley who is (and I’m not kidding) going to be backpacking in Japan for a couple of weeks.

If you were sick or missing, here is what we talked about:

Robin gave us an explanation of what the “defrost mode” is that some of us have experienced with our HVAC systems during the recent cold spell. Robin also got Natalie Stahl’s venue warmed back up and cozy. Robin also mentioned that she will be at the Home Show this weekend at the State Farm Stadium. It is also the last call for the raffle being sponsored by the Southwest Veterans Chamber.

Ami reported that Dr. Misty’s dad (a contractor) gave her a quote for her bathroom remodel. He had suggested that she read it with a glass of wine. She said it was less terrifying than other quotes she had gotten elsewhere.

Lupe said that they had a very good time at the lowrider convention at the State Farm Stadium, and handed out 300 sunshades and lots of other promotional material. She indicated that unlike many of the attendees, she was fully clothed and was still somewhat chilly last weekend. She added that a good time was had by all, and Goodies Glass got a lot of great exposure, as did some of the attendees.

We took a look at what is coming up as spring arrives. Wendy said prom will be hitting her hard, starting about the first of April. This would also indicate that Judy Haenel will be impacted, too. A description of some of the hazards of weddings was offered by Natalie and Wendy. Both of them agreed that Pinterest is a real detriment to brides, hair clients, and other misguided souls.

Landrie returned after her hip surgery, and was making better time on crutches than most of us were in flat shoes.

We send get well wishes to Audrey and Vickie.

Cathy Smith has graciously offered to take the monthly raffle next week at our business meeting. So thank you, Cathy!

In the meantime, have a great rest of the week, watch out for crazed baseball fans, and send me material for whatever blurbs you would like to include in the monthly newsletter. Our theme this issue is “Getting Ready for Spring.”
